Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, makes the annexed Order Amending the Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order under subsection 53(2)footnote a of the Customs Tariff footnote b.
Order Amending the Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order
Amendments
1 The Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order footnote 1 is amended by adding the following before section 1:
Interpretation
0.1 For the purposes of this Order, the origin of goods is determined in accordance with the rules of origin set out in the Determination of Country of Origin for the Purpose of Marking Goods (CUSMA Countries) Regulations.
2 (1) Paragraphs 2(d) and (e) of the Order are replaced by the following:
- (d) goods that are imported before July 1, 2027 for use in the manufacture of motor vehicles or chassis for motor vehicles or in the manufacture of parts of or accessories for motor vehicles or chassis for motor vehicles;
- (e) goods that are imported before July 1, 2027 for use in aircraft, ground flying trainers or spacecraft or in parts of aircraft, ground flying trainers or spacecraft;
(2) Section 2 of the Order is amended by striking out “and” at the end of paragraph (f), by adding “and” at the end of paragraph (g) and by adding the following after paragraph (g):
- (h) goods originating in Canada.
Coming into Force
3 (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Order comes into force on the day on which it is registered.
(2) Section 1 and subsection 2(2) are deemed to have come into force on December 26, 2025, immediately after the coming into force of the Steel Derivative Goods Surtax Order.
