EXPORT AND IMPORT PERMITS ACT

Whereas the Governor in Council deems it necessary to control the importation of the goods set out in the annexed Order Amending the Import Control List (2025-1) to implement the Joint Statement by Canada and the United States on Section 232 Duties on Steel and Aluminum of May 17, 2019;

And whereas, for the purpose of facilitating the implementation of action taken under paragraph 53(2)(d) of the Customs Tariff ^{footnote a}, the Governor in Council considers it necessary to control the importation of those goods and collect information with respect to their importation;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, makes the annexed Order Amending the Import Control List (2025-1) under paragraph 5(1)(e), subsection 5(6)^{footnote b} and section 6^{footnote c} of the Export and Import Permits Act ^{footnote d}.

Order Amending the Import Control List (2025-1)

Amendment

1 Subitem 82(1) of the Import Control List ^{footnote 1} is replaced by the following:

82 (1) Steel goods that are classified under a tariff item set out in column 4 of Schedule 1 or column 4 of Schedule 2 to the Order Imposing a Surtax on the Importation of Certain Steel Goods, as those columns read on the day on which the Order Amending the Import Control List (2025-1) came into force, and that are neither referred to in section 3 of the Order Imposing a Surtax on the Importation of Certain Steel Goods nor imported in a quantity that exceeds the applicable limit established under that Order.

Coming into Force

2 This Order comes into force on August 1, 2025, but if it is registered after that day, it comes into force on the day on which it is registered.
