Issues
The need for a minor technical amendment to the Migratory Birds Regulations, 2022 (MBR 2022) has been identified following the publication of the Regulations Amending the Migratory Birds Regulations, 2022 (SOR/2024-129) in the Canada Gazette, Part II, on June 19, 2024. A portion of text found in subparagraph 4(a)(ii) of column 5 in Table 1 of Part 6 of Schedule 3, in the French version of the MBR 2022, was missing from the English version.
Objective
The amendments aim to correct a discrepancy between the French and English versions of the MBR 2022.
Description
An amendment to the MBR 2022 has been made to replace a portion of subparagraph 4(a)(ii) of column 5 in Table 1 of Part 6 of Schedule 3, in the English version, to specify that in Provincial Wildlife Management Units 88 to 95, the daily bag limit for ducks is six and not more than one may be Barrow’s Goldeneye and not more than three may be American Black Ducks, as correctly specified in the French version.
One-for-one rule and small business lens
The one-for-one rule does not apply to these amendments, as there is no change in administrative costs or burden to businesses.
Analysis under the small business lens determined that the amendment will not impact small businesses in Canada.
