Moise Lafond Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2)^{footnote a} of the Financial Administration Act ^{footnote b}, remits tax in the amounts of $8,008, $8,296, $8,145, $8,576, $7,595, $8,260 and $8,808 paid or payable by Moise Lafond under Part I of the Income Tax Act ^{footnote c} for the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 taxation years, respectively.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits income tax in the amounts of $8,008, $8,296, $8,145, $8,576, $7,595, $8,260, and $8,808 for the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 taxation years, respectively, paid or payable by Moise Lafond.

The amounts remitted represent the additional tax incurred by Mr. Lafond as a result of circumstances that were not within his control. The payment of these amounts caused an inequitable outcome for Mr. Lafond.
