Alfo Bacci Tax Remission Order

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the interest is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits interest in the amount of $10,500.00 that accrued during the period beginning on January 15, 1993 and ending on July 4, 2006, paid or payable by Alfo Bacci or his estate for a pre-1986 taxation year and the 1987, 1988 and 1991 taxation years under Part Ⅰ of the Income Tax Act (see footnote c).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order remits arrears interest in respect of pre-1986, 1987, 1988 and 1991 debt for the period of January 15, 1993, to July 4, 2006, paid or payable, by Alfo Bacci or his estate.

The arrears interest is being remitted because payment of this amount represents a significant financial setback for Mr. Bacci’s estate and it arose due to circumstances beyond his control.
