The Kananaskis and Horseshoe facilities are located on the Bow River within the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8, Alberta, and adjacent to the Stoney Nakoda First Nation Reserves Nos. 142, 143, and 144. The facilities supply electricity to TransAlta customers and enhance the reliability of electric services in the Bow Valley corridor.
The application is for the renewal of the licences for an additional 30-year term. There are no proposed changes to the existing physical facilities or to the operation of the power generating plants within.
Interested parties are invited to provide comments or objections within 30 days of this notice, to be filed with the Director responsible for the administration of the Dominion Water Power Act (Environment and Renewable Resources, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada), by email to lfhc-dwpa@rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca.
