CANADA BORDER SERVICES AGENCY

SPECIAL IMPORT MEASURES ACT

Forged grinding media — Decision

On March 31, 2026, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) extended the preliminary phase of the investigations into the alleged injurious dumping and subsidization of forged grinding media originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China.

SIMA provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary phase of the investigations shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the complexity or novelty of the issues presented by these investigations and the number of persons involved, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue preliminary determinations of dumping and/or subsidization or to terminate the investigations with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before May 25, 2026.
