ASSUMPTION REINSURANCE AGREEMENT

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of subsection 254(3) of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), that BMO Life Assurance Company (“BMO Life”) intends to make an application to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (the “Superintendent”), on or after May 26, 2025, for the Superintendent’s approval to cause itself to be reinsured by Union Life, Mutual Assurance Company, on an assumption basis, against all of the risks assumed by or undertaken by BMO Life in respect of all direct marketed life and accident and sickness insurance, pre-needs life insurance, participating life insurance and group administered retirement savings plan risks issued in Canada.

Subject to receipt of all required government and regulatory approvals, it is currently intended that the proposed transaction will be completed on or after May 30, 2025. It is the intention of BMO Life to complete this transaction notwithstanding the non-assignment provisions contained in certain of the contracts that are included in the policies being reinsured on an assumption basis by Union Life, Mutual Assurance Company.

A copy of the proposed assumption reinsurance agreement and the report of the independent actuary will be available for inspection by the policyholders of BMO Life for a period of 30 days following publication of this notice, at the offices of BMO Life, located at 250 Yonge Street, 9th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M5B 2L7, Monday to Thursday, during regular business hours. Policyholders may also obtain a copy of the assumption reinsurance agreement or the report of the independent actuary by sending a request by email to Contact.BMOInsurance@bmo.com or by mail at the above-mentioned address.

Any policyholder who has inquiries about the assumption reinsurance agreement may call BMO Life’s toll-free call centre at 1‑800‑387‑9855 (English) and 1‑800‑387‑9554 (French), from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

SAFETY NATIONAL CASUALTY CORPORATION

RELEASE OF ASSETS

Pursuant to section 651 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) [the “Act”], notice is hereby given that Safety National Casualty Corporation (“Safety National”) intends to apply to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) on or after June 2, 2025, for an order authorizing the release of the assets that it maintains in Canada in accordance with the Act.

Any policyholder or creditor in respect of Safety National’s insurance business in Canada opposing such release is invited to file an opposition by mail to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada), Regulatory Affairs Directorate, 255 Albert Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H2, or by email at approvals-approbations@osfi-bsif.gc.ca, on or before June 2, 2025.
