CANADA BORDER SERVICES AGENCY
SPECIAL IMPORT MEASURES ACT
Corrosion-resistant steel sheet — Decision
Decision
On February 26, 2025, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) extended the preliminary phase of the investigation into the alleged injurious dumping of corrosion-resistant steel sheet from TĂĽrkiye by Borçelik Çelik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş.
The SIMA provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary phase of the investigation shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, by reason of the complexity or novelty of the issues presented by the investigation, and by reason of the difficulty in obtaining satisfactory evidence in the investigation, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.
Consequently, the decision to issue a preliminary determination of dumping or to terminate the investigation with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before April 17, 2025.

CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TRADE TRIBUNAL
INQUIRY
Hazardous waste disposal
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has received a complaint (file PR-2024-075) from Secure Energy Services Inc. (Secure Energy), of Calgary, Alberta, concerning a procurement (solicitation M2989-235406) made by the Department of Public Works and Government Services on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The solicitation was for the provision of hazardous waste removal services. Pursuant to subsection 30.13(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act and subsection 7(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations, notice is given that the Tribunal made a decision on February 18, 2025, to conduct an inquiry into the complaint.
Secure Energy alleges that the successful bidder does not have a permit to accept hazardous waste, which it claims is a prerequisite to being awarded the contract.
Further information may be obtained from the Registry, 613‑993‑3595 (telephone), citt-tcce@tribunal.gc.ca (email).
