Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of section 250 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), that ACE INA Insurance and Chubb Insurance Company of Canada (together, the “Applicants”) intend to make a joint application to the Minister of Finance, on or after July 25, 2016, for letters patent of amalgamation continuing the Applicants as one company under the name “Chubb Insurance Company of Canada” in English and “Chubb du Canada Compagnie d'Assurance” in French.

APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH AN INSURANCE COMPANY

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to section 25 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), that Achmea B.V., a Dutch insurance company, intends to file with the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, on or after August 8, 2016, an application for the Minister of Finance to issue letters patent to incorporate a property and casualty insurance company. The proposed company will carry on business in Canada under the name Achmea Canada General Insurance Company / Achmea Canada, Compagnie d'assurance générale and its head office will be located in Toronto, Ontario.

The proposed property and casualty insurance company intends to engage in home and automobile insurance and related activities.

Any person who objects to the issuance of these letters patent may submit an objection in writing to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, 255 Albert Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H2, on or before September 5, 2016.

LETTERS PATENT OF AMALGAMATION

Notice is hereby given that BNP Paribas (Canada) and its wholly owned subsidiary, BNP Paribas Energy Trading Canada Corp., intend to make a joint application to the Minister of Finance for the issuance under subsection 229(1) of the Bank Act of letters patent of amalgamation continuing them as one bank under the name of BNP Paribas (Canada).

The effective date of the proposed amalgamation would be September 1, 2016, or any other date fixed by the letters patent of amalgamation.

The head office of the amalgamated bank would be located in Montréal.

HAUSSMANN 157

APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH A CANADIAN BRANCH

Notice is hereby given that HAUSSMANN 157, an entity incorporated and formed under the laws of France, and a subsidiary of Caisse Centrale de Réassurance, intends to file with the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, on or after August 1, 2016, an application under section 574 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada) for an order approving the insuring in Canada of risks, under the name CCR RE, within the following classes of insurance: property, accident and sickness, aircraft, automobile, boiler and machinery, fidelity, legal expense, liability, marine, and surety. All classes of insurance are limited to the business of reinsurance. The head office of HAUSSMANN 157 is located in Paris, and its Canadian chief agency will be located in Toronto, Ontario.

Currently, Caisse Centrale de Réassurance operates in Canada through its Canadian branch. Subject to the approval of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, it is the intention of Caisse Centrale de Réassurance to transfer the operations of the existing Canadian branch to the proposed Canadian branch of HAUSSMANN 157. The name of HAUSSMANN 157 will be changed to CCR RE, which would also be the name under which its Canadian branch would operate.

SUMITOMO MITSUI BANKING CORPORATION OF CANADA

TRANSFER OF BUSINESS

Notice is given, pursuant to paragraph 236(2)(a) of the Bank Act (Canada), that Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation of Canada (“SMBC Canada”), a Schedule II bank with its head office in Toronto, Ontario, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”), intends to make an application pursuant to subsection 236(1) of the Bank Act (Canada) for the approval of the Minister of Finance (Canada) of the sale agreement between SMBC Canada and SMBC, pursuant to which substantially all of the assets of SMBC Canada will be transferred to SMBC and SMBC will assume substantially all of the liabilities of SMBC Canada.
